Neighbourhood Watch Competition

A Neighbourhood Watch poster competition was recently held at the Doddinghurst Juniors School. In all there were six prizes awarded, courtesy of the Parish Council, to the six best posters. You can view these posters and see the winners HERE

Did you realise there is a Village Neighbourhood Watch scheme?
If you are interested in attending any of the regular the meetings to learn about security issues or want to be part of the neighbourhood watch scheme / receive ringmaster alerts, please contact Bill Reid 0n 01277 823169, in the first instance.
Dates of next 2008 meetings : 4th March, 1st April, 6th May, 3rd June. Venue: Parish Room adjacent Village Hall, Time: 14.00 (to 15.30)

Lost Property

Have you lost anything in Doddinghurst recently? You may not be aware, but most lost property is usually handed into the Parish Council office adjacent to the Village Hall. Items recently received by us include jewellery, a mobile phone, keys, a watch, tools, clothing, child’s scooter and a dog’s identity disc.
If you have lost something in or around the village then why not give us a call? We may have your possession in our possession!

Proof of identity or ownership will be required upon collection.
Items not claimed within six months of receipt will be disposed of at the discretion of the Parish Clerk. Any funds raised from the disposal will be returned to the Parish Council.

Quality Status

Doddinghurst Parish Council is very pleased to have been awarded the "Quality Parish" status on the 17th September 2007, which is a result of it demonstrating that it has achieved the national standards for Councils in the performance of its operations.

History

There is an excellent book for all those interested in the history of our village – compiled and edited by a local; Mr Peter Kurton.
Doddinghurst A Place in the Country is the story of an Essex Village from the earliest times to the dawn of the third millennium.
It is a very enjoyable read and contains some interesting and surprising details. Priced £8 per copy and available from the Parish Office.

Parish Room for Hire

Doddinghurst has a Parish Room situated in the centre of the village adjacent to the Village Hall. It is ideal for smaller gatherings, meetings, etc and is available for hire at £6.50 per morning, afternoon or evening session. A full day from 09.00 to 21.00 would cost £19.00.
From the 1st April 2008 the per session rate will rise to £7.00 or £21.00 for a full day

Community Bus Trips

The Parish Council organises trips in a community bus to a variety of destinations. Click on the "Bus Club" to see the current schedule and booking arrangements. The cost is just £5 for short trips and £6 for long distance trips and they normally run monthly. The drivers are volunteers and approved under the MIDAS minibus driver scheme. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer driver should ring the club chairman Colin Enderby on 01277 821927.
